| Bai Bai has painted some of her traditional
country, which is located in The Great Sandy Desert, south
of Balgo. This country is known as Mukuri. The central red
band depicts the path that people would use through this country.
Above the path are shown the nearby hills and caves, in which
some of Bai Bai's father's family lived. The lower portion
of the painting depicts the sandhills, or tali, which dominate
the landscape of the area. The small dot work here represents
two types of seeds that are found here, and used for flour,
lukarrar and idakatji. |
