| This painting depicts some of Boxer's
tradtional country, along the course of Sturt Creek, north
of Balgo. It was in this country that Boxer was born on Sturt
Creek Station. Shown here is Sturt Creek in the early stages
of the wet season; as rain falls in different areas of the
catchment it brings down different coloured floodwaters. The
country around here is know as Oolain, and is an important
men's law area, and a site on the Tingarri Cycle, a powerful,
extensive desert men's story. It is also a site used for malulu,
or initiation of boys into manhood. |
